Jane is a highly experienced, motivated and versatile counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor with over 15 years working as a counsellor and psychotherapist and 9 years as a clinical supervisor working in a range of settings and particularly within the health and social care voluntary sector.
Jane provides assessment, short-term and on-going therapeutic work in a warm, confidential and creative environment that has the client at the centre of the work. Her training was Integrative and Jane's work is particularly informed by existential, psychodynamic and object relation theories. She sees the relationship between the client and the therapist as being at the centre of the work, respecting each person's individual values, beliefs, choices and hopes, and aims to create together a unique and safe therapeutic space.
Jane works with a range of issues such as stress related problems, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and she specialises in working with individuals, couples and families who are facing life threatening/life changing illnesses, bereavement and loss.
Jane's initial professional training was as a RGN where she worked as a Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse providing nursing care to patients facing life threatening illnesses, palliative and terminal care. Jane provided pioneering and progressive nursing care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS at London Lighthouse for 6 years. During this time she trained to be a counsellor at WPF and then a psychotherapist at The Minster Centre, and worked as a counsellor at the HIV/AIDS counselling service Red Admiral Project (now THT) and maintained an independent psychotherapeutic practice.
Jane has also worked as a psychotherapist for The Medical Foundation for victims of torture. On relocating from London to the South Coast in 2000 Jane developed and led the bereavement service at St Barnabas Hospice, Worthing for 6 years providing counselling, supervision and training. Following this Jane was the Family Service Manager and Lead Clinician for Winston's Wish West Sussex, a children's bereavement service for nearly 3 years.
