Rory Singer

Rory is a practising psychotherapist with over 20 years experience. He is a Registered Psychotherapist with the 'United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy' (UKCP), and is an Accredited Trainer with the 'British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy' (MBACP). Rory works as a psychotherapist with individuals, couples and groups. He teaches and supervises both trainee and graduates of counselling and psychotherapy. He also works as a consultant for individuals and organisations. He is consultant psychotherapist for the Agora Gynaecology & Fertility Centre. Rory is also Managing Director of New Road Consultancy.

Rory worked at the Hammersmith Hospital London for nine years, as a psychotherapist in the IVF unit under Lord Professor Robert Winston. The client group was childless couples and individuals. He also taught on the MSc in Reproductive Medicine, lecturing on the psychological impact of involuntary childlessness. Alongside working at Hammersmith Hospital, he was course director, and lecturer on the Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Crawley College. He did this for ten years.

Prior to that he worked full time for two years at Kings College Hospital London working as a psychotherapist with male survivors and perpetrators of child sexual abuse. He worked alongside police, probation, social services, and forensic psychiatrists. His worked also involved seeing prisoners at Wandsworth prison. During this time Rory has always maintained a private practise.

His main influences are Gestalt, Psychoanalytic, and Buddhist theory. Before training as a psychotherapist Rory ordained as a Buddhist monk in the 'Thai Forest Tradition' in the lineage of Ajahn Cha and Ajahn Sumedho. He lived as a monk for five years both in England and in Thailand.
