Simone has experience of working with adults and children in psychotherapy & counselling services and education settings in inner London.
Simone’s work with adults includes anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, abuse, relationship difficulties, separation, divorce, ambivalent motherhood, issues of identity, belonging/not belonging. Simone’s work with children and young people includes trauma, self harm, stress, anxiety, loss, disability, transition, displacement and immigration. For her own professional and ethical reasons, Simone does not work with children in her private practice.
Simone holds a BA (Hons) and trained in Transactional Analysis at the Metanoia Institute for Psychotherapy and Counselling in London which specialises in relational transactional analysis. Her approach is integrative drawing on relational transactional analysis, attachment and object relation theories. She believes that the co-created relationship between therapist and client is the vehicle to healing and change and is the most important and significant element of therapy. Her aim is to provide a space that is safe, trusting, accepting and non intrusive to ultimately allow self expression and to find the meaning of such leading to the understanding of self and self in relationship with others.
Simone is an invited external examiner of trainee counsellors at the Metanoia Institute. She has also been a speaker at The Place2Be for voluntary counsellors in their induction of working with children. Before her work as a therapist, Simone worked within the NHS for 15 years within a psychology unit for HIV medicine and organised counselling courses for Health Care Professionals within the field of HIV/AIDS.
